Invented by a dentist, Dr. William Morrison, this delicious treat is often blamed for cavities in kids’ teeth.

Roughly 52% of Americans surveyed said they have a positive opinion of cotton candy. Consumers usually purchase this treat at fairs, carnivals, and other in-person events.
Cotton Candy was introduced as “fairy floss”, a name which that stuck in Australia. The term “Candy Floss” is more common in the UK, Ireland, Egypt, India, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. Everywhere else it is now known as “Cotton Candy”, the American term coined by Joseph Lascaux in 1921.

What Ingredients are in Cotton Candy?
As popular and delicious as it is, aside from the usual colorings and flavorings, all of which are artificial, cotton candy has but one ingredient – sugar. The sugar is melted down and extruded through a fine mesh using compressed air, where color and flavor is added. Critics of this treat usually point to the high sugar content.
