Themed bars are always a popular destination for people with similar interests to meet. And for the 18.2 million U.S. citizens that served in the military, having a nearby bar that pays tribute to their branch is an appealing way to connect with other like minded vets. For service men and women the military is much more than a career, but a way of life and shared experience.

And with theme bars gaining popularity across the country, military-themed bars can be profitable if you plan to operate the business near a base of military operations. According to the research firm Statista, food and drink sales in the bars and taverns generate $23 billion in annual revenue per year.

If you enjoy connecting with and serving our veterans this could be the right business opportunity for you. Support for our service men and women will always be important. And while opening a bar can be a profitable business idea finding the right name can be tricky. Here are some of the different name ideas we have come up with as a salute to service members.

There is much more leeway in naval themes than in other military service themes and almost anything nautical can apply here. And when it comes to naming the bar, you have hundreds of years of naval history to fall back on. Like our best suggestions using naval terminology and familiar slogans.

How to Name Your Own Military-Themed Bar

How to name your military-themed bar
Choosing a name for your military-themed bar is as important as anything you will do to market your business. The name is everything, and you need to be easily recognized, for your business and your theme, as well as being memorable for those that frequent military bars.

First, you need to decide on what theme you are going to use. You can choose from any of the branches of military service, or just a general military theme, and this will help select the name for your bar. No point naming a navy bar for an army term. It won’t wash. So be careful with naming the bar for the theme you are choosing. Your defined market is a good indicator of how to name the bar.

Location is another aspect of naming that you can choose from. Adopting the name of the local military base you are close to is a useful way to bring your name into line with your theme, and may help to become popular with active duty personnel. Taking this approach will definitely make you more memorable within the community.

Famous members of the military branch you are naming your bar for are also a good idea for themed bar names. General Ike’s would be a great name for an Army bar, especially in Texas, or the Douglas MacArthur Bar after the famous U.S. General.

America has some amazing war and military heroes that are all easily recognized, and make a good tribute when used as your bar name. Former regimental names can also be used well as themed bar names, such as the WWI military unit known as the Harlem Hell Fighters.
