Every day millions of moms visit blogs or log into private groups on Facebook to find parenting advice, product recommendations, and connect with other mothers that can share in the experience. If you enjoy sharing anything from cooking tips, cleaning processes, lifestyle hacks, advice for keeping kids entertained during the summer or relationship advice you’ve got a set of experiences worth sharing with the world.

Of course there’s plenty of competition among mommy bloggers. According a report from HuffingtonPost, there are 4 million mom bloggers in North America alone. As a result, you’ll need to figure out how your blog will stand out from the throng of other wanna-be influencers.

Ways to Profits from Mom Blogging

You can make a good living sharing your experiences and lessons learned.

Blogging about your experiences as a mother is a legitimate way to make money from home. But that doesn’t mean starting a new blog that generates a full-time income will be easy. Based on my own experience, it takes a new blogger about 3 years of serious blogging before making a full-time income defined as $30,000 – $40,000 in revenue per year.

In the those first months and even year and a half of publishing, progress is typically slow. Progress must be viewed over a period of months, not days. Most people aren’t able to work long hours consistently like this way to build a business they aren’t completely confident is possible.

And if you’re a mom that still needs to care for children during the day, finding the hours to blog can be challenging. Especially if you don’t have a partner that’s supportive of the efforts and may not understand the potential. Similar to any other job, I suggest carving out time in your week that’s dedicated only to content creation. Protect your work hours at all cost to ensure your blog is in a better two years from now.

So what are the ways to earn money as a mom blogger? Here are a few of the most popular.

Affiliate Marketing

In simple terms, affiliate marketing is like being commissioned by a company to sell their products through your promotion. When someone blogs and includes a recommendation to buy a product and they include the link on where to get it, the owner of the blog gets paid every time a reader clicks on that link and buys the product. Affiliate marketing spending has increased to 10.1% in the United States every year which makes this a great way to earn from blogs.

As a mom blogger you’ll have plenty of opportunities to provide product reviews of different products you use. I recommend you start by reviewing the products you already use on a regular basis. Inventory the soaps, body wash, towels, and even toothpaste you use with your kids. Share how and why you use certain brands instead of other options.

You can usually find out if the brand you like has an affiliate program by visiting the website of the brand you use. Look for links at the bottom of the page name affiliate program, partner program, etc. Usually the terms, revenue split, and any other guidelines will be published on the brand’s website. One of the most popular programs you can enroll in right away is the Amazon Associates program. This program allows you to get commissions from almost any Amazon sale you refer.

Advertising

Advertising is under a partnership with the company so you’ll be paid to write about them making this another way to profit from blogging. The website you’re reading right now uses display advertising to help monetize the website. This is a terrific way for a blog owner to earn an income, but you’ll need a lot of monthly page views and readers to build revenue in this way.

Advertising on your blog also means allowing advert banners from different products to run within your page. These may look annoying to some but these are what give blogs profit. You also have some flexibility where these are placed.

When I was just getting started with my blogging journey, I joined a program called Adsense. This is a program owned by Google that allows you to show ads on your website and get paid on a monthly basis if you make at least $100 per month. The program is free to join and easy to get setup.

Sponsorships

This may also work like advertising wherein the company pays you to write about them but sometimes, sponsorships can also mean writing about a certain recipe and having your favorite cooking oil brand send over their products for you to use for free.

Some of the terms and conditions here would have to be featuring their products, using them, and reviewing them. Depending on the agreement between you and the company, you might also be made to link to the company’s website so your readers will know where to buy it.

Again, reach out directly to companies with products that you use regularly and see if there’s any interest. This will require a significant amount of cold emails to companies, but can be worthwhile.

Selling Products

Selling products online is also one way to earn from your mom blog. Many of the most successful, highest income earning bloggers ultimately decide to create their own products and sell them on a blog. These products include lines of clothing, beauty products, or training programs.

You can setup an online store set up alongside your blog so readers can buy products too while they’re browsing your website.

Selling Books

Writing a small book or creating a little class can be a good entry into making money too. I got my start selling small guides between $7 – $14. These can be easy and simple to make. Don’t forget even if you don’t like to write you can sell audio guides or video trainings if that’s your preference.

For instance if you own a cooking blog, you can compile recipes that haven’t been featured on your blog before to make a cookbook. Another example my wife purchased from a blogger was a sleep training course. If your new child doesn’t sleep, trust me that’s a big problem you’re willing to pay money for. Look for big problems like this that you can solve for other people.

Include photos that look very delicious and hidden tips and tricks for your readers to use. When you’re done, turn this into an e-book and sell it on your site.

Video Blog

If writing isn’t your thing, you can also do video blogs. You can earn through the ads that run on your videos too. Don’t wait to get started. Set up your mom blog with these name ideas and follow these tips on how to profit off your blog.

After you’ve got the blog name figured out, you’ll need some engaging topics to write about. Check out the step-by-step process for coming up with popular blog topic ideas here.
