We believe there are some massive opportunities for disruption in the frozen treat isle of your local grocer. One opportunity is to jump onto the mega-trend band wagon of using organic and all natural ingredients to manufacture these treats. Essentially, you could create a company that offers better for you versions of what’s currently on the market. This is pretty easy to do with popsicles and there are at least a couple dozen brands using this approach already.

Fortunately, these better for you frozen treats still taste great. After all, ingredients like blueberry, strawberry, peaches, apples, and other fruit are all naturally sweet. If these products are locally grown or organic they can create strong differentiators.

Another option as mentioned above is to take a look at the different variety of frozen treats that are popular in different parts of the world. We evaluate some of the top frozen treat options that are popular abroad in a recent podcast episode. Some of the top picks include Paletas from Latin America or ice pops.

Finally, look toward different groups of people with dietary restrictions or preferences that can’t enjoy a regular frozen treat. Consider creating a line of flavors that source only local ingredients, sugar alternatives, or non-diary options. These are all smart approaches that can be used to create a truly unique popsicle.
