With an increase in the number of cooking shows and events that use teams of cooks working together, more everyday people are entering contests with the goal of winning prizes and bragging rights. One such reality tv show that kicked off this craze globally is The Great British Bake Off or GBBO for short.

Each week this show pits teams against each other to determine the best baker. The show inspired cooking competition in all sorts of unexpected places in offices, churches, and even households.

Thousands of cooking competitions are held annually every year in the United States as well. Everything from bake-offs, to chili cook offs to competition BBQ is available here. From Alabama’s Wing Thing to Wyoming’s Chuckwagon Cook-off, you could visit more than 50 events a year.

Alternatively, you can try out for some of the kitchen challenges that have team contests, which are the ultimate in team building challenges for anyone that claims to cook. So whether you are serious contestant or part-time kitchen cook that just want to have fun, there’s a cooking event for every type of food and individual skill level.

The only step remaining is to figure out a clever team name to rally the team around. And while we can’t help you bake the perfect brownie, we can help you establish an awesome name idea. These are the best available competitive cooking team names we could come up with.

How to Find Your Competitive Cooking Team

the team

Team work makes the dream work.

Finding the right group of people to join a competition cooking team isn’t always easy. After all, you may not have any immediate friends or family members that share your passion for cooking or competition. If you find yourself in this situation, you’ll need to put yourself out there to find a few like-minded folks.

But before posting a Facebook status update with a cattle call for competition BBQ fanatics, think about your own personal goals for the team. Do you want to participate in a one-time chili cook off for fun? Or are you hoping to travel the country racking up trophies? These are two very different goals requiring significantly different time and money commitments. Make sure you’re clear on the type of team you’re wanting to build.

After getting clear on your goals for the group, it’s time to get out there find your teammates. Here are a few ways to approach finding A-players for your team:

  • Post a social media message on Facebook or Twitter, letting your friends know you’re creating a team. Ask your friends to share the message with their extended network to increase the reach. Make the expectations for members clear within this status update. This will help you attract the right people and filter out the people you don’t want.
  • Visit other food events and let folks know you’re looking for a team. This is a great place to find other like-minded people and you could find someone else hoping to start a team too.
  • Put your intentions out into the world. Let people you know or get introduced to know that you are actively looking to build a cooking team. Repeat this step for one month and you might be surprised by the results.
