In the beginning, when WiFi became popular, few people had access to the internet in their homes. Now more than 86% of homes in the US have internet routers with built-in WiFi. If you own or manage a coffee shop, you know customers have the expectation that fast and free internet access will be offered. Many remote employees or laptop entrepreneurs utilize coffee shops as temporary work spaces with better coffee.

Naming your own WiFi network can be fun, and you can, literally, call it whatever you want. So why not get creative with the naming? Your only limitation is the number of characters you can use. The standard Service Set Identifier (SSID) can handle only 32 characters including spaces. For those of you that want an unusual, unique, or downright freaky internet WiFi name here are my best suggestions.

WiFi Name Ideas

Naming your own home WiFi is a great way to make sure it is easily recognizable among the multitude of WiFi networks in an urban neighborhood. With most networks using a string of letters and numbers, trying to recognize your connection can be annoying. By coming up with something unique, it will make the process of identifying your WiFi network easier.

Coffee Shop Internet Access Statistics

Before home WiFi was available, internet cafés ruled the world. Now, for those that want good internet while they are out and about, coffee shops have added WiFi. Usually free, the coffee shop WiFi password is generally given out to paying customers using a password that they can enter to access the network and can be changed regularly to prevent unauthorized access.

Here are some fascinating statistics about the coffee shops:

  • There are 9,000+ active barista openings in the United States right now. This number is expected to increase even further over the next 5 years.
  • There are 17,537 coffee production jobs in the United States alone. This industry employs more people than you might expect.
  • Vietnam produces more than 3 million tons of coffee each year.
