Ironically with more people staying at home over the past year, the industry is experiencing an unexpected resurgence. People are rediscovering board game classics such as Monopoly and Scrabble.

Google Keyword Planner disclosed that people searched the words, “Pandemic board game” a staggering 246,000 times in March 2020. That’s more than double the searches for “Risk board game” which garnered around 90,000 searches over the same time period.

Speaking from personal experience, my own family have played more board games in the last 12 months than we have for years. I’ve even learned a few new games like Mexican Train and Rummikub. It’s been fun to sit down with my wife and learn some games I’d heard about, but never took the time to play. I think there are a lot of other folks that share this same experience.
