Sign Ideas

What type of sign will you choose?

At this time, we hope you’ve got a short-list of name ideas for your backyard bar. If you haven’t had that light bulb moment just yet, don’t worry. There are a variety of name generators available online that will give you hundreds if not thousands of additional ideas based on a keyword theme you enter into the tool. My personal favorite is available on Shopify here. Check it out and give it a try!

After you identify a name, it’s time to find an attractive sign to put on display. Believe it or not, you probably won’t need to spend much money to get an appealing sign that can be used for years. The first decision is if you want to do this yourself or if you want to get something made custom.

Obviously doing it yourself is going to be the most cost effective option for the backyard. If you’ve got some basic artistic skills and a few hours of time on your hands this could be a great afternoon project. Get a small piece of wood, paint brushes and paint at a hardware store like Lowe’s or Home Depot and you could get something memorable made for under $50 all in.

For something less permanent, another option is to buy a chalk board. These can easily be shipped to your home from Amazon or another online retailer. Spend a few bucks on chalk and you could have everything you need right there. Best of all, you’ll be able to update the messaging for birthday parties or other events held in your backyard.

On the flip side, maybe you don’t want to spend time painting or writing a sign. There’s no shame in outsourcing the work to the pros so you can spend more time actually enjoying your backyard. One of the best ways I’ve found to get a custom sign name made is to check out websites like Esty.

Esty is a website that allows small shop owners and creatives to sell stuff online. You can find artists that specialize in jewelry, clothing, and of course sign making on there. You might be surprised at how affordably you can get these individuals to make something custom for you. More often than not, a small sign will be under $150. If you want to commemorate the backyard with your family name or a funny tagline this can be pretty easy. You could also lean on these folks to come up with a creative tagline too.

We wish you the best of luck on naming your backyard oasis! Send us an email and include the photo of your sign and we’ll publish here on this post. We look forward to seeing what you come up with for your home.
