What are positive affirmations?

Smile more.

An affirmation is an idea, phrase, or thought that you state to yourself. These statements can help you deal with internal and external influences that might throw you off. As children we are often taught affirmations at school about being good boys and girls. These are affirmations.

However, as you grow older, external affirmations are often forgotten about or considered no longer important. At least, that’s what they tell you. But having some form of affirmation can put you in the mindset to overcome obstacles, achieve the “impossible” and become the person you always wanted to be. Affirmations can rewire the brain to improve positive self-perception, self-esteem, confidence, and problem-solving abilities.

Hearing yourself repeat these lines and phrases out loud can help to instill a mindset that enables you to change and bolster your mental state and boost your mood. So to make sure you can do this, reserve a few minutes each day to clear your mind and make recite an affirmation. State these aloud because it works better if you hear them spoken. When you combine positive affirmations with consistent actions toward your goal, I believe you can do pretty much anything you envision.
