But I’m happy to report there are still some smart ways to save money on your next visit to make things more affordable. Let’s take a look.

Did Panera Bread Increase Menu Prices Again? 

Panera Bread has been making headlines recently for raising its menu prices once again for a couple different reasons.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Panera LLC, accusing the company of deceptive advertising and violating the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

The plaintiff, Lisa Ladonski, alleges that Panera hid price increases associated with delivery orders from consumers, enticing them with a promotional $1 or free delivery when using their app. The suit claims that when delivery is selected on the Panera app, it inflated the cost of food to compensate for the promotion.

The problem is the increased menu prices were not revealed until the order was submitted. This resulted in a 5-10% increase in price compared to an in-store pickup. The plaintiff is demanding a trial by jury, actual and punitive damages, court costs, and legal fees. We await the outcome of this case to find out what the court determines.

Menu prices at Panera Bread have increased over the past two years. The company announced a price increase in January 2023, citing rising costs of food, labor, and other expenses. The price increase affected all menu items, including coffee, sandwiches, salads, and bakery items.

One example of a menu price increase (featured above) is the Teriyaki Chicken & Broccoli Bowl increased from $10.99 to $11.49. This menu item increased by 50 cents or 4.54%.

The price increase at Panera Bread is not unique. Many restaurants have raised prices in recent months, as they have been forced to pass on the rising costs of doing business to consumers. The rising costs of food, labor, and other expenses have been a challenge for restaurants for several years, but they have been exacerbated by health crisis.

But that doesn’t mean consumers have been happy about this. Here are some of the comments from the social media website Reddit:

• “Panera Bread is getting too expensive. I used to go there all the time, but now I can’t justify the prices.”
• “I’m not going to Panera Bread anymore. The prices are ridiculous.”
• “Panera Bread is no longer a good value. There are other restaurants that are cheaper and just as good.”

Only time will tell if the price increases at Panera Bread will have a negative impact on the company’s business. However, the sentiment on Reddit suggests that the price increases are not sitting well with customers.

Did Panera discontinue breakfast wrap?

Yes, Panera Bread discontinued its breakfast wraps. The breakfast wraps were first introduced in 2011 and were a popular item on the menu. However, sales of the wraps had been declining in recent years. In addition, the cost of ingredients used in the wraps had been rising, making them less profitable for Panera Bread.

The breakfast wraps contained scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese. Panera Bread is not the only restaurant that has discontinued wrap items in recent years. In 2021, McDonald’s discontinued its McSkillet breakfast burrito and Starbucks discontinued its Chicken Caesar Wrap
