What are the LEANguini noodles?

LEANguini is available.

LEANguini noodles, also known as Zoodles, are a type of pasta substitute made from zucchini. They are part of a growing trend in the food industry where vegetables are used to replace traditional pasta or noodles to create a healthier and lower-calorie option.

The process of making LEANguini noodles typically involves spiralizing zucchini into long, thin strands that resemble traditional pasta. These “zoodles” are often used as a low-carb and gluten-free alternative to regular pasta, making them suitable for individuals following specific dietary preferences or restrictions.

One of the main advantages of LEANguini noodles is their low-calorie content compared to traditional pasta. The calorie count can vary slightly depending on the brand and serving size, but in general, zucchini noodles have significantly fewer calories than wheat-based pasta. For instance, according to the information you provided, the LEANguini noodles from Noodles & Company reportedly contain 210 calories.

Additionally, zucchini is a nutrient-dense vegetable, providing essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin C, potassium, and vitamin A.

What meals have been discontinued at Noodles & Company?

I’m sorry. Steak stroganoff has been discontinued.

Restaurants, including Noodles & Company, regularly update their menus to meet changing consumer preferences, introduce new seasonal offerings or in some cases cut menu items that aren’t selling well. Here are some of the items that have been discontinued.

Beef Stroganoff

Noodles & Company once offered a menu item called “Beef Stroganoff.” Beef Stroganoff is a classic Russian dish traditionally made with sautéed beef, onions, mushrooms, and a rich sour cream sauce, served over egg noodles. At Noodles & Company, their Beef Stroganoff typically includes tender beef, sliced mushrooms, and a creamy stroganoff sauce, all served over their signature noodles.

Steak Stroganoff

Another classic Russian dish based on the Beef Stroganoff but instead of beef, sliced steak is used as the base of the dish. Unfortunately, the dish was discontinued in 2021 to the frustration of some patrons. Fortunately, Noodles & Company shared a recipe of their classic dish on TikTok.

Sandwiches & Flatbreads

Noodles & Company is primarily known for its noodle-based dishes, but it seems the company also experimented with offering sandwiches and flatbreads at some locations. Noodles & Company underwent a significant rebranding and menu restructuring to focus on its core dishes. Sandwiches & Flatbreads were among the menu items that were discontinued as part of this strategic shift.

Artificial Colors and Flavors

In a positive move towards healthier and cleaner ingredients, Noodles & Company decided to remove artificial colors and flavors from its core menu items. This decision was likely made to meet the growing demand from health-conscious consumers for more natural and transparent food options. By eliminating artificial ingredients, the company aimed to offer a more wholesome dining experience for health-concious customers.

Is Noodles & Company Struggling? Locations Closing?

Noodles & Company has faced various challenges that have contributed to its struggles in recent years. Despite its initial success and plans for expansion, the company has encountered several obstacles that have affected its performance and reputation in recent years including closing down 55 stores back in 2017. Here are a few of the business challenges of Noodles & Company over the years.

1. Stock Market Struggles: One of the significant setbacks for Noodles & Company was the collapse of its stocks after a successful initial public offering (IPO) in 2013. The stock value soared on the first day of trading but subsequently plummeted, losing 33 percent of its value by July 2014. Two years post-IPO, the value declined by a staggering 73.15 percent. While there were some temporary gains in 2018, the stock continued to face volatility and uncertainty, making it less appealing to investors.

2. Risky Business Model: The restaurant’s business model revolves around offering a wide range of international noodle dishes, salads, and soups, which appeals to variety-seeking customers. However, this approach comes with its challenges. The restaurant’s menu diversity requires significant staffing and operational costs, making it less cost-effective to deliver than say software for example. Additionally, the lack of a distinct and easily recognizable specialty might have contributed to brand confusion and consumer apathy.

3. Data Breach Fallout: In 2016, Noodles & Company faced a data breach, where customer account information from 28 of its restaurants was potentially compromised. The incident resulted in negative publicity and a considerable financial burden for the company. Noodles & Company spent $3.4 million investigating the breach, and a subsequent lawsuit from an Oregon credit union added to the company’s legal troubles.

4. Legal Troubles: Following the data breach, an Oregon credit union sued Noodles & Company for failure to implement necessary security measures to prevent the incident. Although the lawsuit was ultimately dismissed, the legal entanglement and negative publicity did not go unnoticed by consumers.

5. Labor Law Violation Lawsuit: The company faced another legal hurdle when former assistant managers filed a lawsuit claiming they were owed overtime pay. Noodles & Company settled the lawsuit for $3 million without admitting any labor law violations, but the negative impact on its reputation, particularly regarding employee treatment, was evident.

6. Restaurant Closures: To address underperformance, Noodles & Company decided to close down 55 of its locations in 2017. While the move was an attempt to streamline operations and improve earnings, it raised concerns among customers about the overall stability and success of the company.

Despite these challenges, Noodles & Company continues to operate and expand in markets where the restaurants perform well. The company’s focus on delivery-friendly options and the introduction of zucchini noodles (zoodles) might help in attracting health-conscious and convenience-seeking customers. However, overcoming the aforementioned issues and maintaining a strong market presence will require significant efforts from the company.
