Jersey Mike’s started as a small sandwich shop called Mike’s Submarines in 1956. A part-time employee named Peter Cancro eventually bought Mike’s Submarines in 1971 and renamed it Jersey Mike’s. The rest they say is history as the sub shop has grown to more than 2,000 locations.

Here are the Jersey Mike’s menu prices in 2023. I also share my favorite ways to save money using coupons, joining the rewards program, and making little-known menu hacks when you order.

The Juice

I always get The Juice on my sandwich.

Here are some tips for customizing your own delicious Jersey Mike’s sub:

  • Select your bread from a variety of options including white bread, wheat bread, gluten-free bread, and more.
  • Choose your meat. You can choose turkey, roast beef, ham, salami, chicken, tuna, and turkey.
  • Add cheese such as provolone, pepper jack, cheddar, Swiss cheese, and more.
  • Add toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, banana bell peppers, Jalapeños, cherry pepper relish, and green peppers.
  • Select condiments such as mayo, chipotle mayo, honey mustard, Franks Red Hot, olive oil blend, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, and mustard. Ranch and blue cheese dressing are also available at most locations.

You can leave out some ingredients if you’re on a diet. For example, you can take off the meats and thick sauces if you’re a vegan.

What are the Five Different Sandwich Sizes at Jersey Mikes?

Jersey Mike’s outlets offer five different sandwich sizes. Here they are.

  • Mini: This is the smallest sandwich size. This sub is made up of a 4-inch roll and contains 4 to 5 meat slices. Minis are ideal for a quick snack or for people with smaller appetites like kids.
  • Regular: A regular sandwich is made of 8 to 10 slices of meat in a 6-inch roll.
  • Giant: A giant sub is more than a foot long. The giant submarine sandwich has 16 to 20 slices of meat. It can be shared with two people.
  • Wraps: Wraps are sandwich ingredients wrapped in a soft tortilla. There are two wrap sizes—regular and giant.
  • Sub in a Tub: This is an option for customers who want to skip the bread. The fillings that usually go inside a sub are instead placed in a tub or bowl.

What is “Mike’s Way” at Jersey Mike’s?

You might have heard of a certain “Mike’s Way” from fans of Jersey Mike’s. If you tell the staff you want the sandwich to be prepared “Mike’s Way,” they will prepare your sandwich with the following ingredients and in this order:

  • Onions
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Red Wine Vinegar
  • Olive Oil
  • Spices
  • The meat and cheese of your preference

The trademark combination of red wine vinegar, olive oil and Italian spices is referred to as “the juice” by the sandwich chain. You can also ask for “the juice” on the side if you want more control.

The sandwich starts with onions being placed on the bread first. This is followed by lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil, and spices. Finally, the meat and cheese are placed on top and shoved into the sandwich.

I put a little spin on Mike’s Way each time I visit the establishment. I always ask for Mike’s Way with Mayo. This gives you everything listed above, plus mayonnaise. Of course, you can customize sandwiches any way you want. No need to do it “Mike’s Way.” You can do it your way instead.

The Original Italian, also known as sandwich #13, is Jersey Mike’s most popular sandwich. The #13 comes with sliced prosciuttini, ham, cappacuolo, salami, and provolone cheese, all topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, spices, red wine vinegar, and olive oil. The masterpiece is served on a freshly baked sub roll. You can ask the staff to add more toppings and condiments if you’d like.

The Original Italian has been a favorite since Jersey Mike’s first opened its first store in 1956. It continues today as a bestseller. But what’s my personal favorite? I’m glad you asked. My go-to order is the #7, a Turkey and Provolone sub. I order Mikes Way with mayo and occasionally add pickles.

Does Jersey Mike’s have Gluten-Free Menu Options?

Abraham Lincoln loves Jersey Mike's.

Abraham Lincoln loves Jersey Mike’s.

Jersey Mike’s has gluten-free sandwiches, wraps, and salads. All you need to do is ask the staff for a gluten-free roll or wrap. It will cost a bit more for a gluten-free sandwich: $1.50 more for a regular roll and $3.00 for a giant size roll. Gluten-free bread costs more due to the specialized ingredients, alternative flours, and additional production processes required to create a product that maintains desirable texture without gluten.

Jersey Mike’s has been offering gluten-free rolls since 2017. Gluten-free options are available in regular and giant roll sizes. Unfortunately, there is not a gluten-free mini roll available in Jersey Mike’s at this time.

To make sure there is no cross-kitchen contamination, Jersey Mike’s has teamed up with Udi’s to provide gluten-free rolls. The rolls are delivered to Jersey Mike’s locations in plastic bags and are not opened until you place the order. This process helps ensure that your sandwich does not come into contact with gluten.

Does Jersey Mike’s Make Salads?

Yes, Jersey Mike’s make salads. Here are some salad options available at many locations. These salads cost between $9 – $12 depending on your order.

  1. The Original Italian Salad: A mix of greens, provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni.
  2. The Grilled Chicken Salad: A combination of greens, grilled chicken, and a variety of veggies.
  3. The Chef Salad: A blend of greens, ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, and veggies.
  4. The Tuna Salad: A mix of greens and Jersey Mike’s famous tuna salad, made with 100% Albacore Tuna.
  5. The Garden Salad: A simple mix of greens and veggies, which can be customized with your choice of protein and dressing.

You can also order a Sub in a Tub. These are their sub sandwiches without the bread—essentially a salad version of their sandwiches. Note that nutritional information may vary, depending on the toppings and dressing you selected.

  • The Bread: Jersey Mike’s bread is a distinguishing factor, as they use a proprietary recipe for their white and wheat sub rolls. The bread is baked fresh daily in each store, providing a superior taste and texture compared to some competitors.

This combination of toppings and condiments adds a unique and consistent flavor profile to their sandwiches.

These factors contribute to the unique taste and experience of enjoying a Jersey Mike’s sub.

How to Save Money at Jersey Mike’s

There are several savvy ways to save money at Jersey Mike’s. The simplest way to join the loyalty program MyMikes. When you sign up, you start generating Shore Points that can be used toward free food. You earn a different number of points depending on the order:

  • 3 points for every KID’S MEAL
  • 4 points for every MINI size sub or Breakfast Sandwich (where available)

If you redeemed your points for another Turkey and Provolone sandwich you would save 8.3%. If you ordered a higher priced sub like the The Original Italian priced at $8.25, you’d save 9.48%.
