Cici’s Pizza Menu Prices: Still Cheap in 2023?

Cici’s, originally named Cici’s Pizza, is an American chain best known of it’s really affordable pizza buffet. The pizza chain was founded in Plano, Texas in 1985.  

Here are the latest Cici’s menu prices for 2023. I also share my favorite money saving tips and provide analysis on whether or not this is still a cheap restaurant to dine at.

Cici’s Pizza is considered a cheap restaurant because it offers a buffet-style dining experience for a low price. Adults can eat for $7.99 and children under 10 can eat for $5.99. The buffet includes a variety of pizzas, pastas, salads, desserts, and drinks.

As you can see, Cici’s Pizza is one of the cheapest pizza chains in terms of buffet prices. Considering it’s hard to find a burger and fries at a restaurant for less than $10, it’s hard to beat the unlimited pizza and salad that Cici’s has to offer.

Is Cici’s Restaurant still around? Did the pizza go out of business?

In March 2021, SSCP Management, Sunil Dharod’s family firm, and Anand Gala’s Gala Capital bought Cicis out of bankruptcy, taking almost $83 million worth of debt, and converting it to equity. 

At the time, there were 300 Cici’s restaurants in business. But with its new owners and just two years after filing for bankruptcy and trying to stay afloat during the pandemic, Cici’s did a U-turn and is in the process of trying to reemerge as a successful chain. 

In October 2022, Dharod said that they are adjusting the pizza recipe, back to what it once was, but so much better.

When Cici’s President Jeff Hetsel was interviewed in January 2023, he said that having a great team, plan, and partner helped them bounce back from the darkness and that the business was beginning to turn around. 

At the time of writing there are 279 Cici’s locations, 112 of which are located in Texas. One change that Cici’s is trying to make is to make bigger video game rooms to attract families into stores. Even though the company emerged from bankruptcy in 2022, it remains to be seen whether Cici’s will be able to overcome its financial challenges and return to profitability. We will be watching as this unfolds.

Where is the biggest Cici’s Restaurant location?

If you’re a big Cici’s fan, you probably have dreams of eating at the largest Cici’s restaurant. But do you know where it is? 

With 8,000 sq feet of dining area that can seat 391 guests, plus two party rooms and a 5,000 square feet game room this Cici’s restaurant is located in Branson, Missouri. What’s more is that, aside from big rooms for dining there’s also a game room where customers can enjoy up to 60 games including Fruit Ninja, Dead Strom Pirates, Jurassic Park, and the typhoon stimulator.

Due to its massive size, some diners consider it a small amusement park with the addition of buffet pizza which isn’t that common in the country anymore. The Branson Cici’s restaurant is the perfect place for family gatherings on Sundays where kids and adults alike can enjoy playing games while devouring their all-time Cici’s favorites. 

Is Cici’s a publicly traded company? 

Cici’s Pizza is not a publicly traded company. It’s a private company that operates a chain of pizza restaurants in the United States. As a result, you are not able to purchase stock in this pizza chain.

How big is Cici’s Giant Pizza?

The Giant pizza at Cici’s is 16 inches in diameter. This is the standard size for a large pizza at most pizza chains. The Giant pizza at Cici’s can feed 2-4 people, depending on their appetites.

Cici’s also offers an even larger pizza called the Piezilla. The Piezilla is 28 inches in diameter and the pizza chain claims it will feed 15 people. The Piezilla is only available for dine-in or take-out at participating locations.

Does Cici’s accept Apple Pay?

Aside from credit cards, Cici’s accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay as forms of payment whether dine-in or delivery. 

Is there a military discount at Cici’s Pizza?

Calling all troops or service members who love pizza! Cici’s offers a military discount to all service members. Although the said discount varies for every location, they offered a buy one get one free for their adult buffet during Armed Forces Week. This year, Armed Forces Week was observed May 12-18, 2023.

If you or a family member is a service member, you can avail of Cici’s 25% off military discount by simply showing your military ID when paying for your meal. Heads up though, not all Cici’s locations offer the military discount so you’ll need to confirm before you dine. 

Unfortunately, there is no official list of Cici’s locations offering this discount either. It would be better to call in advance and ask before visiting to avoid confusion and disappointment. I also would like to note that the military discount can only be applied when eating inside the dining room of a Cici’s location.

Are there any menu hacks or ways to save money at Cici’s?

Menu hacks are a lifesaver. And it doesn’t matter if a restaurant is one of the cheapest ones out there, anyone would fight for menu hacks to save every dollar they can when eating out at their favorite restaurants. But sadly, there aren’t as many known hacks for Cicis compared to its competitors.

However, I will still be sharing this one that can be beneficial to anyone: Visit Cicis 30 mins before closing time with your friends or family, and they’ll give you all the pizza left for the day. Grab some to-go boxes and lunch is solved for the next day or two. 

• Order a large pizza online: You can save money on large pizzas by ordering them online. Cici’s Pizza often offers discounts and coupons for online orders.
• Order water: If you want to save money, order the water. There’s no charge for a glass of ice water at Cici’s.
• Ask for extra sauce: Cici’s Pizza is known for its generous portions of sauce. If you like your pizza with a lot of sauce, be sure to ask for extra.
• Order what you want on the buffet: Did you know you can make special pizza requests for the buffet? This is a fantastic way for everyone in the family to get exactly what you want. So don’t be afraid to ask the manager or server for something new. You might just find your new favorite pizza.
• Go during off-peak hours: The buffet is busiest during the lunch and dinner rushes. If you want to avoid the crowds, go during off-peak hours, such as early in the morning or late at night.

Did Cici’s change their recipe?

In 2014, it was reported that Cici’s did a pizza menu overhaul and introduced new recipes. Some of the changes included adding real cheese to the ingredients, more toppings to choose from, and adding garlic-buttered crust. 

Aside from those changes, there was also an increase in the size of the buffet and the To Go pizzas are now 14 inches. According to then-CEO Darin Harris, the changes were made to further improve the chain’s relationship with their customers.

Does Cici’s make their own dough?

Did you know that each Cici’s restaurant makes its own dough in-house? Yes, you read that right. They make their own dough in each store. 

With nearly 300 hundred stores in the US, you might think that Cici’s make and prepared at scale in a commissary but they actually don’t. Because Cici’s offers such a low price for their buffet pizza, according to the president of the company’s distributing arm, Bob Kulick, a commissary would be a luxury item. Because when you add in the cost of product storage, delivery, transportation, and warehouse, it’s just not a practical decision build a commissary for all Cici’s locations in the country. 

History of Cici’s Pizza 

Originally, Cici’s wanted only sold pizza but in 2001, they expanded their buffet offerings and remodeled their restaurants. Cici’s started offering not just pizzas, but pasta, salads, and desserts as well. 

It was in 2015 when the company decided to rebrand and keep the name short – Cici’s. During this time, they also showcased a new website and logo. 

For years, Cici’s lagged behind their faster moving pizza competitors before finally announcing bankruptcy in 2021 amidst the global pandemic. Fast forward to 2023 and Cici’s appears to be back on the road to growth while remaining true to its roots of being one of the lowest priced dining options out there.
