Due in large part to the growth of local wineries, Temecula has become a popular weekend trip for residents of Southern California. In case you’ve never visited, the city of Temecula is located in Riverside County about 90 minutes south of Los Angeles and 60 minutes north from Downtown San Diego and attracts visitors from both population centers.

Although Temecula is best recognized for their wineries there are plenty of other aspects of the city to explore such as the historic “Old Town” that offers a chance stroll through Old West inspired shops and dine at some of the best restaurants the city has to offer. The city also has a rapidly growing craft beer scene and the Penchanga Casino if you’re into gaming. To boot there’s a special outdoor event of just about every weekend making this the perfect place to find food trucks.

In this article, we evaluate the top food trucks to eat at while in Temecula and attempt to determine our top five. The ratings of these food trucks are in no particular order since taste has a lot of personal preference. Still, you can’t go wrong with visiting any of these mobile destinations. These food trucks were selected based on a combination online reviews, press, and in-person taste tests. Let’s take a tour of our favorites!

Best Temecula Food Trucks of 2017

The Delicious, Devilicious Food Truck.

 

Devilicious Food Truck – Without question, one of the most popular food trucks in the Temecula Valley is the Devilicious Food Truck. If you’re looking for a sinfully decadent burger or sandwich this is the place to go. Popular menu items include Asparagus Grilled Cheese, Pork Belly Melts, Loaded Fries, and Duck Confit Grilled Cheese (fancy!).

Fortunately, you no longer need to worry about where this truck will be vending as they have opened up a permanent restaurant location in Old Town where in addition to enjoying great food you can also sample some of the regional brews on tap. This truck also has an incredible origin story and actually started out as a contestant of Season 2 of the Great Food Truck Race. Bottom line, a visit to Temecula would not be complete without a lunch at Devilicious.




A Global Taste Sensation.

BC Worldwide Food Truck – This food truck brings flavors from all over the world to Temecula so feel free to leave the passport at home. You never know exactly what to expect with BC Worldwide Food Truck thanks to their ever rotating menu inspired by different locations around the globe. Some past menu items have included the following: Chimichurri Steak Tacos, Empanadas with a signature sauce, loaded breakfast croissants and even a good old burger and fries from time to time. Chef’s Pantry – Looking for robust made-from-scratch foods? Chef’s Pantry only creates meals using ingredients that are in season. Regional influences for the food include American, French, and Asian. Some of the favorites on the menu include the Candied Bacon Burger that features a brown sugar and cayenne candied bacon. Other signature entrees include fish tacos with pineapple mango salsa or Shrimp Po’ Boys.

Kona Ice in Temecula / Murrieta.

Kona Ice – It’s no secret that it can get hot during the summer months in Temecula. According to WeatherCurrents.com, the average high in July is 90 degrees. With that being said, it’s not at all uncommon to see days that exceed 100 from June – September. With scorching days like these there’s nothing more refreshing than being able to cool of with Kona Ice. Kona Ice of of Temecula / Murrieta allows you to enjoy all-natural shaved ice in a variety of flavors like Tiger Blood, Ninja Cherry and Island Rush. Best of all, you get to decide how much syrup goes into your cup of ice with the self-serve flavor center installed on the side of the vehicle. This allows you the opportunity to be creative and mix / match flavors.

You can find Kona Ice parked at a variety of community and kid friendly events across the Temecula / Murrieta area. In addition to enjoying a cool treat, Kona Ice donates a considerable amount of the sales revenue to local organizations. The WoodFire Pizza Wagon.

WoodFire Pizza Wagon – Watch your pizza be made right in front of you. This mobile pizza wagon heats up to 900 degrees F. and can cook a pizza pie within two minutes so you won’t need to wait long to enjoy the freshest slice in Temecula. Popular pizzas include Margherita, Barbecue Chicken, and Italian sausage, but you can also build your own. All pizzas are around $10 or less so in addition to great taste this is a great value as well.
