First opening its doors in 1978 in Palo Alto, California, Mountain Mike’s has grown into a popular West Coast pizza franchise. This family-oriented pizzeria was started by founder Thomas Van Buskirk. Now with over 40 years in business and over 250 locations, Mountain Mike’s caters to pizza lovers all over the West Coast with their furthest east location in Texas.

What are the Pizza Sizes at Mountain Mike’s?
Mountain Mike’s has four pizza sizes: Small (10″) with 10 slices, Medium (12″) with 12 slices, Large (14″) with 14 slices, and Mountain (20″) with 20 slices. The Mountain pizza is made to serve six to eight people, making it perfect for parties, family events, or plenty of leftovers.
Mountain Mike’s used to have a size called “Mini” that was 6 inches in size and came with six pieces, but the employee working behind the counter told me it was no longer available despite it still being listed as an option in the store. I took the employee for his word, but will try ordering again the next time I’m in to confirm this is no longer an option.
Does Mountain Mike’s Have a Lunch Buffet?
Mountain Mike’s has an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet Monday – Friday from the hours of 11 AM to 2 PM. The lunch buffet includes a salad and pizza bar for one low price of $9.99 per person plus tax. Kids 10 years of age and under get to dine for $6.99. The price of a buffet does not include a soft drink or alcoholic beverage with the price. Remember that the lunch buffet cannot be combined with any mobile app deals unless stated otherwise on their coupons and that it is an in-person-only offering.

What can you expect to find on the buffet? You’ll find a variety of 4 – 6 fresh made pizzas on the buffet line. Usually these include the classic pepperoni pizza, but you can also request your favorite pizza as well.
In terms of the salad bar portion, I found 21 different items including dressings, vegetables, on the small but quality salad bar. The salad bar included all the items I would want to put on a salad including ranch dressing, cheese, black and green olives, pepperoncinis, cucumbers, celery, carrots, beets, and beans. Since Mountain Mike’s hours of operation vary depending on the location, your best course of action is to check their location finder service on their website. This feature includes location details such as address and hours of operation, making it much easier to find a Mountain Mike’s open near you. In general, Mountain Mike’s are open from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday – Saturday.
Has Mountain Mike’s Gotten Too Expensive?
While Mountain Mike’s has increased in price over the years, their overall prices are still comparable with other pizza chains. Even though the restaurant isn’t considered “expensive” the price for pizza has gone up across the board by 12.58%. Ouch! But sadly these price increases are par for the course at most pizza chains these days.
