Based on my comparison of prices on the same items both offered by the two restaurants, comparable Denny’s menu offerings are 23% cheaper than IHOP’s based on the 3 menu items evaluated. Here’s a snapshot of similar items being offered by both restaurants side by side.

• Lunch:
  • Turkey Club: Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on toasted bread.
  • Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on a bun.
  • Cheeseburger: 100% beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a bun.

While this menu has been discontinued, there are still plenty of ways to save money at Denny’s.

What is Denny’s Grand Slam?

Denny’s Grand Slam is an iconic breakfast dish that has been satisfying hungry customers since 1977. Named after the popular tennis term for winning all four major tournaments, this dish consists of two fluffy pancakes, two sunny-side-up eggs, two strips of bacon, and two sausages. In order to use EBT at Denny’s, you must be a resident of one of these states and be eligible for the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP). The RMP is a state-run program that allows SNAP recipients to use their benefits to purchase prepared meals at participating restaurants.

To find out if Denny’s in your area accepts EBT, you can contact your local Denny’s or the customer service line at 1-800-DENNY’S (336-6977). Keep in mind that you can only use EBT to pay for your meal up to the amount of your EBT balance. You cannot use EBT to pay for a meal that exceeds the balance so make sure to confirm you have enough funds in the account before you dine.

The company’s profit margins have been affected by these rising costs. The company has introduced a pair of $6.99 meal deals this summer, including an endless breakfast deal—unlimited pancakes, eggs, and hash browns—and the return of the Super Slam, a member of Denny’s signature Slam family. The Super Slam features two buttermilk pancakes, two sausage links, two bacon strips, two eggs, and two hashbrowns for $6.99 or $8.99, depending on the market.

This is a shift in strategy from a quarter ago, when Denny’s had eased up on value due to staffing issues. The new menu is created to fulfill any craving, morning, noon, or night, and includes the traditional Everyday Value Slam and a tasty new take on the fan favorite Moons Over My Hammy. The All Day Diner Deals menu’s 10 meals include the following:
