Ever wondered which beloved breakfast spot has been around longer – Denny’s or IHOP? Well, the answer may surprise you. While both restaurants are staples in the American dining scene, Denny’s predates IHOP by roughly 5 years. Denny’s was founded in 1953, while the first IHOP didn’t open until 1958.

- Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on a bun.
- Cheeseburger: 100% beef patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a bun.
While this menu has been discontinued, there are still plenty of ways to save money at Denny’s.

Fortunately, many Denny’s locations across the country do accept EBT, providing a convenient option for those in need. Denny’s accepts EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) in the following states:

In order to use EBT at Denny’s, you must be a resident of one of these states and be eligible for the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP). The RMP is a state-run program that allows SNAP recipients to use their benefits to purchase prepared meals at participating restaurants.
To find out if Denny’s in your area accepts EBT, you can contact your local Denny’s or the customer service line at 1-800-DENNY’S (336-6977). Keep in mind that you can only use EBT to pay for your meal up to the amount of your EBT balance. You cannot use EBT to pay for a meal that exceeds the balance so make sure to confirm you have enough funds in the account before you dine.

Denny’s, the American diner chain, has increased its menu prices by about 7% over the past year due to higher costs for food and labor, as well as increased prices for gas, food, and other goods. The company’s profit margins have been affected by these rising costs. Despite the price increase, Denny’s is focusing on providing value to its customers, especially as the economy faces a downturn.
The company has introduced a pair of $6.99 meal deals this summer, including an endless breakfast deal—unlimited pancakes, eggs, and hash browns—and the return of the Super Slam, a member of Denny’s signature Slam family. The Super Slam features two buttermilk pancakes, two sausage links, two bacon strips, two eggs, and two hashbrowns for $6.99 or $8.99, depending on the market.
This is a shift in strategy from a quarter ago, when Denny’s had eased up on value due to staffing issues. However, staffing has improved over the past three months, and Denny’s is now focusing on value again. The company believes that these value offers will help drive traffic and offset the lower check sizes.
Despite the price hikes, Denny’s has not been able to fully offset inflation. The company’s commodity costs rose 18% in the second quarter, and labor costs were up 8%. This contributed to a significant drop in operating margins at company-owned Denny’s, which were 8.8% in the period, down from 20.5% a year ago.
