Discontinued Menu Items

In 2016, the chain introduced a more contemporary aesthetic, which included the implementation of consumer-focused technology and a more advanced kitchen. As part of this modernization, Johnny Rockets removed the iconic tabletop jukeboxes from its establishments, as reported by Nation’s Restaurant News.

To complement its updated look, Johnny Rockets tested a variety of new menu items. In 2019, the chain launched the “Crunch Menu,” which included burgers topped with barbecue chips, chips garnished with bacon and cheese, and milkshakes infused with Snickers and crushed cookie pieces. The promotional “Crunch Menu” introduced by Johnny Rockets in 2019 and was removed from the menu the same year.

In celebration of National Milkshake Month, Johnny Rockets, the renowned all-American chain famous for its rich shakes, collaborated with the California-based Santa Monica Brew Works to introduce two limited-batch milkshake-inspired porter beers. These are:

  1. Strawberry Milkshake Porter: This beer boasts a ripe and juicy strawberry profile, enhanced with Madagascar Vanilla to impart a velvety sweetness.
  2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake Porter: This porter offers a creamy and dreamy experience, delivering a sweet nutty flavor complemented by a silky-smooth finish.

This was a limited time promotion that ended in 2022. Johnny Rockets regularly releases menu and drinks items on a promotional menu that’s designed to excite guests and bring more foot traffic to their restaurant

What Cooking Oil Does Johnny Rockets Use?

Johnny Rockets has confirmed they use 100% soybean oil to cook food. Some diners don’t consume soybean oil due to dietary restrictions or allergies.

Here’s a fascinating note about the cooking oil at Johnny Rockets. In 2013, Johnny Rockets announced a partnership with DAR PRO Solutions to covert their used cooking into biodiesel fuel named Bio G-3000 Premium Biodiesel fuel. This fuel can substitute diesel without any need for engine modifications or performance reductions. Through this innovative partnership, the 29 corporate-owned Johnny Rockets restaurants will now recycle around 7,200 pounds of used cooking oil annually at each location.

So the next time you enjoy onion rings or French fries at Johnny Rockets, you can take heart into knowing that some of the oil used to fry the items will be converted into biodiesel instead of wasted.
