What soft drinks are available at Burger King?

Burger King sells Coca-Cola Products. The soda machine at Burger King is called the Coca-Cola Freestyle. It is a touchscreen-operated fountain that dispenses over 100 different beverages, including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Powerade and Minute Maid products.

The Coca-Cola Freestyle machines were first introduced in Burger King restaurants in 2010. They have since been rolled out to all company-owned restaurants in the United States. The machines have been popular with customers, who appreciate the variety of drinks they offer.

One cool discovery I had at a recent visit to Burger King is that they offered Surge in this machine. I used to love this soda in high school, but didn’t know you could still find it anywhere. I took a photo of this green and caffeinated beverage below so you can see what it looks like. I’m happy to report it tastes just like it used to when I was in high school.

You can get Surge at Burger King.

You can also find frozen beverages like Frozen Coke and Frozen Fanta. These are available for only $1 right now.

Does Burger King Still Offer Crowns?

Yes! Kids and adults can still ask for crowns free of charge when asked. The Burger King crowns are iconic promotional items that have been a freebie since I was a kid in the 1990s.

The crowns are made with thin cardboard and can be adjusted in size with slots to fit just about anyone. The crown has a classic design with pointed tips or peaks that resemble the spikes of a traditional royal crown featuring the Burger King logo. The design of the crown might change based on special promotions or marketing campaigns.

Is “The King” Mascot Still in Use?

At the moment, Burger King is not prominently featuring “The King” in marketing materials or television advertisements. Instead, the brand is highlighting value deals and The Whopper.

Over the years, customers have had mixed feelings about The King. Some think he’s pretty funny. Others found him a tad too “creepy” for their taste. Believe it or not, the CEO of Burger King even admitted the mascot was scaring some women and children and in 2011 BK decided to dethrone The King.

But like any good drama, our King made a comeback! In 2015, he was seen hobnobbing with boxing royalty, Floyd Mayweather. Talk about a royal entrance!

Burger King’s ad game has been as spicy as their chili cheese bites since then, often playfully poking fun at competitors. But through all the twists and turns, one thing’s for sure: The King, with his unforgettable charm (and head size!), has left an indelible mark on the fast-food kingdom.

Back in the groovy 1970s, our beloved King had a pretty standard-sized head. Fast forward to the 2000s, and voilà! He’s got this oversized noggin that’s hard to miss. Rumor has it that the inspiration for Big Head King came from a vintage mask found on eBay by some creative folks at an ad agency. Imagine that!

In the future, I suspect The King will make a comeback again. But for right now, The King gets a well deserved break from tv commercials and exclusive events.

Discontinued Menu Items

Burger King has discontinued many menu items over the years. Most notably was the unexpected removal of all salads from the menu in early 2022. I’ve included the list of salads and other menu items that have come and gone over the years.

Burger King’s $5 Box

Another value-priced combo meal taken off the menu is the $5 Your Way Meal deal. If you’re familiar with Wendy’s $5 Biggie Bag, they were very similar offerings.

For just $5, you could choose from having a Whopper Jr., a Chicken Jr., or a Bacon Cheeseburger that came with a small order of French fries and a small-sized soft drink.

Does Burger King still have Whoppers 2 for $6?

Nope! This offer is no longer available either. In fact, all full sized Whoppers have been removed from value menus. To handle higher costs, Burger King, just like its competitors made some changes in their menu and offerings.

While many customers were happy having the Whoppers in the 2 for $6 deal, the burger chain had to make the difficult decision to remove it and treat the Whopper as the king of their menu by not including it in any discount offerings.

Why did Burger King take these items off the menu? Typically when restaurants remove items it’s due to poor sales, supply chain issues, cost cutting or making the operations of the restaurant simpler. Burger King has not made public comments to specifically explaining why these items were removed.
